FAQ About the Product Overview

Show all answers
Hide all answers
  • What is VITA® DIET?

VITA® DIET is a new diet food for cats from Vitakraft. It is currently available in the Gastro, Urinary and Renal product lines. VITA® DIET Gastro supports your cat's gastrointestinal health. VITA® DIET Urinary helps with urinary tract problems and has a preventive effect against struvite stones. VITA® DIET Renal is suitable for cats with renal insufficiency and reduces oxalstone formation.

  • When should I give my cat special food?

If your cat shows health problems and your veterinarian advises it, you should give special food. Typical triggers are, for example, persistent diarrhea, problems urinating or poorer kidney values. Special food helps your cat when normal food is no longer sufficient.

  • Do I need a diagnosis from the vet for special food?

Yes, because special food is tailored to certain clinical pictures. Prior consultation with the veterinarian will ensure that you choose the right variety.

  • When does my cat need VITA® DIET gastro food?

VITA® DIET Gastro is suitable for gastrointestinal problems such as diarrhoea or vomiting. The gastro food is particularly easy to digest and is easy on the stomach. It also has a supportive effect on exocrine pancreatic insufficiency.

  • When does my cat need VITA® DIET urinary food?

VITA® DIET Urinary is suitable for problems with the lower urinary tract, especially due to struvite stones. The urinary food is formulated in such a way that it optimally adjusts your cat's urine pH value. The lining helps to reduce painful struvite stones.

  • When does my cat need VITA® DIET Renal food?

VITA® DIET Renal is suitable for kidney failure or poor kidney values. The renal food relieves the kidneys because it contains less, but very high-quality protein and a reduced phosphorus content.

  • How long does my cat have to be fed the special food?

That depends entirely on the problem. Some gastrointestinal difficulties are over after a few weeks. Kidney or urinary tract problems often accompany cats throughout their lives. Please follow the feeding recommendation on the back of the packaging and follow your veterinarian's recommendation.

  • What should I do if my cat refuses to eat?

Give your cat some time. Mix the new food gradually with the usual food over several days. If you warm up the wet food very slightly, it smells more intense and is often accepted more quickly.

  • Can a healthy second cat eat the special food?

It is best to feed your cats separately. Special food is precisely tailored to the needs of sick cats. The nutrient composition is not designed for healthy cats. The easiest way to feed them is in separate rooms.
