Act sustainably

As a manufacturer of high-quality pet food, sustainable action is essential and self-evident for us. Because only if we use natural resources sparingly can we ensure species-appropriate and healthy nutrition for our pets in the long term.

Our measures for greater ecological sustainability focus on the three key issues of energy consumption, emissions, and resource use.

In order to make our commitment measurable and tangible, we regularly collect data and set ourselves clear targets, the achievement of which we continually monitor.

Energy, packaging, procurement & mobility

Sustainable energy

100% green electricity

Since 2021, we have been using 100% green electricity in our production facilities, our central warehouse, and the administration buildings in Bremen/Lower Saxony. Through this, we were able to achieve a CO₂ saving of 40%.

CO2 savings

50% less CO2 consumption

By using green electricity and switching to local heating systems and condensing boilers for our heating systems as well as using LED lighting, we have achieved CO₂ savings of 50% since 2020.

Lorry fleet

Reduction of the lorry fleet by 50%
 

By building a fully automated high-bay warehouse in 2021, we will save 11,000 l of diesel and around 3.8 t of CO₂ per year.

Packaging

90% recyclable

We already use over 90% recyclable packaging at our production facilities in Bremen and Lower Saxony. By 2025, we aim to achieve 100% recyclable packaging for products manufactured in Bremen and Lower Saxony and a 10% reduction in plastics.

Sustainable purchasing of soya

Our aim is to procure soy exclusively from European or certified sources. We aim to achieve this by 2025 – we are currently 90% of the way there.

By 2025, we aim to switch 100% of the fish and fish by-products we use in our products to MSC- or ASC-certified goods. And we are already 92% compliant.

Replace palm fruits

Replace palm fruits

We are working hard to completely eliminate palm oil and palm kernel fat. The little palm oil that we currently still use is sourced from RSPO-certified sources.

We summarize our entire sustainability commitment under the VITA® PLANET initiative, which includes an economic and social component in addition to the ecological one. We want to grow sustainably as a company by making targeted investments in research and development and promoting the modernisation and automation of processes. At the same time, we attach great importance to fair, stable, and cooperative dealings with all our employees and our external partners.

Plant for the Planet

Planting trees for a better world. We support the children’s and youth initiative Plant-for-the-Planet in its goal of planting 1,000 billion trees worldwide.

With this large-scale reforestation project of CO₂-binding trees, we can actively do something to counter the climate crisis. That’s why we are planting trees together with Plant-for-the-Planet.
